Orthography’s Presentation

The last class we had a presentation by some partners about Orthography.  I thought that they were going to talk about hyphenation, capitalization, word breaks, emphasis and punctuation, but they only mentioned the consonant phonemes, the vowels and diphthongs, and the letters. It was a little confused. Anyway, they continued talking of silent letters, like ‘t’  in castle and listen. Then, they talked about homophones: “words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings.” For example, ‘be’ and ‘bee’; ‘ate’ and ‘eight’; ‘red’ and ‘read’; or ‘buy’ and ‘bye’.

In my opinion the presentation was good but a little scramble.

The Day that I Lied to my Teacher

The day of test I chose to do a bad thing: cheating. I was in third semester of high school. I had a Math test, but I did not study very much. I was very nervous to do it, but I tried it because I was insecure of the content of the test. Right before the test started, I left my notebook open over the desk without my teacher seeing me. Then I started the exam after teacher gave us the test sheets. To my surprise, my teacher quickly noticed I was doing something wrong when he saw my face and my eyes. So he came to my desk and saw the notebook. “You are not going to pass this test” he said, “I will give you a zero”. It was a very embarrassing moment; my partners looked at me with surprise. I felt ashamed and bad with myself. Then, it was the first and last time that I tried to cheating. Fortunately, on the next exam I got a ten, so I was able to pass his class with a seven that semester and I learned the lesson. After that, I never again do cheating.

(GMO) Genetically Modified Organisms Must Be Prohibited

In my opinion, GMO are wrong for some reasons. First of all, the health of people is being affected in negative ways, according to the article “50 Harmful effects of genetically modified (GM) Foods.” GMO can cause cancer and allergic reactions. Secondly, GMO are dangerous to the environment. Evidence (which appeared) in the same article shows that there are companies using toxic herbicides/pesticides with GMO that contaminate the soil. Also, these organisms cause the growing of “SUPERPESTS” such as cotton boll worms, which like to feed on this kind of plants. Thirdly, GMO has a negative impact in farming (as mentioned in the same article). The food production is monopolized, so big companies are controlling almost every production of food. “These agro-corporations have taken economic and legislative power away from the small, self-sufficient family farms.” Also, it is responsible for a lot of deaths in this planet. For all these reasons, I disagree with this technology; it is wrong and it only favors and enriches a minority of people instead of helping needy people.

California Beach

California Beach is a spot for surfing. It is called like that by some people because it is near a trailer park/hotel named ‘California’. You can find it in Sauzal, km 103 on the road Ensenada-Tijuana. To get there, you have to walk past a fence near the road; it takes around one hundred meters to see well the ocean standing from a stone wall. To get down to the water you have to go down through a stairwell. There are a lot of big, black and brown volcanic rocks on the shore. Walk carefully because some rocks are very sliding! California Beach is like that, maybe a little dangerous, but beautiful enough to enjoy the intensity of the blue sea, pleasant fresh air, endless music from the waves and feeling the heat of the sun. If you are thinking of going in the water, you should wear a wet-suit and neoprene boots —the water is very cold!  Only in summer you can wear shorts.  Anyway, during the whole year you can find many good waves, mostly in the autumn and winter when they are higher and powerful.

As Frosty Hesson said "If you're having a bad day, catch a wave."

Time

“Time has been transformed, and we have changed; it has advanced and set us in motion; it has unveiled its face, inspiring us with bewilderment and exhilaration” said Khalil Gibran.

“So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.”(Mason,Waters,Wright and Gilmour, 7:06)

Time, according to WordReference.com is “the continuous passage of existence in which events pass from a state of potentiality in the future, through the present, to a state of finality in the past.”

I had a short continuous passage of existence in which events pass from a state of potentiality in the future, through the present, to a state of finality in the past, to do this publication.
