The last class we had a presentation by some partners about Orthography. I thought that they were going to talk about hyphenation, capitalization, word breaks, emphasis and punctuation, but they only mentioned the consonant phonemes, the vowels and diphthongs, and the letters. It was a little confused. Anyway, they continued talking of silent letters, like ‘t’ in castle and listen. Then, they talked about homophones: “words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings.” For example, ‘be’ and ‘bee’; ‘ate’ and ‘eight’; ‘red’ and ‘read’; or ‘buy’ and ‘bye’.
In my opinion the presentation was good but a little scramble.
